Are you searching for more ways to customize your Cricut projects, learning how to upload fonts is a great way to do so. How to Upload Fonts to Cricut.

First, you’ll need to download the font. Many fonts come in either.ttf (TrueType) or.otf (OpenType), so make sure you download and install the correct one for your computer.

Downloading the Font

Cricut Design Space comes with an impressive library of fonts, but sometimes you need one that isn’t available. Fortunately, uploading fonts to Cricut is much simpler than you might think!

To begin, download the font from Urban Fonts. How to Upload Fonts to Cricut.

This website boasts an impressive selection of free fonts, including script fonts. Plus, its search function is user-friendly so you can easily locate the exact font you need.

Once the font has been downloaded, unzip it by double-clicking its folder and following the onscreen instructions.

Once unzipped, you can install them onto your computer. Most fonts come in two file formats:.TTF and.OTF.

Unzipping the Files

Once you’ve downloaded a font from the web, it will likely be in a zip file (a folder ending in “.zip”). This zip file typically contains multiple versions of the font as well as any terms of service documents.

Once you’ve downloaded a font in this way, be sure to unzip the files before uploading them to Cricut Design Space. To do so, double-click on the zipped folder and open all of its files in a new window.

This process works the same on Windows and Mac. You can unzip the files with either standard system tools, or download a third-party app that offers an easier graphical interface for unzipping files.

How to Upload Fonts to Cricut

If you own both a computer and Cricut, downloading fonts from other sources is simple. All that’s required for use are two things: an internet connection and access to Cricut Access; no special steps needed!

Cricut uses mathematical equations to interpret fonts and create a cut file compatible with electronic cutting machines. Select fonts with clean edges, as well as no sketchy or watercolor-looking lines.

You may find that certain fonts don’t work well with the Cricut, such as sketched or brush-styled fonts. These styles feature tiny points which will make cutting with the Cricut difficult; therefore, keep this in mind when selecting a font.

Using the Font

Once downloaded to your computer, using that font in Cricut Design Space is a straightforward process.

First, ensure the correct file type is chosen. TTF (True Type Font) files tend to be preferred for general usage; however, OTF (Open Type Font) files often include additional information and features like ligatures, alternates, and glyphs that provide further customization options for the font.

When selecting a font, it’s essential to consider its intended end use. If the project will only be for personal use, any font can work fine; however, if designing for commercial sale, make sure your fonts include commercial licenses.

Once installed, open Cricut Design Space and select the Text tool from the dropdown list that appears. Now select your new font from this list for use!
